Marija Salečić, soprano
Born in Dubrovnik in 1996, Marija Salečić began her vocal education in 2014 at the Josip Hatze Music School in Split. In 2018, she enrolled at the Music Academy in Zagreb under the tutelage of professor Martina Gojčeta Silić. Throughout her academic journey, she has been involved in numerous projects, notably performing as “Mollie” in I. Kuljerić’s “Animal Farm” at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall and starring as the lead role “Alkmena” in B. Papandopulo’s opera “Amphitryon” at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.
Among her notable concert performances are her appearances at the Zagreb Music Biennale with the ASMANGU ensemble, her participation in the summer opera festival in Vis in 2020 and 2021 with Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” and her performances at the opera gala concerts of the Oper Oder Spree festival in Germany for the 22/23 season. In 2022, she was honored with the Grand Prix for being the most successful participant of the Oper Oder Spree seminar, receiving a full scholarship for her achievement.
She has collaborated under the baton of conductors such as maestro Vlad Iftinca (Oper Stuttgart), maestro Vinzenz Weissenburger (Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin), maestro Mladen Tarbuk, maestro Darijan Ivezić, and maestro Matija Fortuna. Additionally, she has worked with directors including Saša Anočić, Lars Franke (UDK Berlin), Mathias Behrends, and Krešimir Dolenčić.
Marija has attended numerous seminars led by renowned musicians and vocal pedagogues, including Thomas Hampson, Melanie Diener, Eva Blahová, Snežana Brzaković, Bernhard Hansky, Krešimir Stražanac, and Srba Dinić. In 2022, she performed at the award ceremony at the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia and was selected as a finalist in the 20th Young Musicians’ Competition of the Samobor Music Autumn. She was awarded a full scholarship for the Thomas Hampson and Melanie Diener seminar and performed with the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen in Germany in November 2023.
Marija is a recipient of four Rector’s Awards for student projects and is currently a graduate student at the Music Academy in Zagreb.
