ABOUT

Roisin Linehan is a soprano recently graduated from their Masters in Vocal Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Kathleen McKellar-Ferguson. During their studies here, they have partaken in numerous projects both inside and outside of the RCS, including the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project, Oxenfoord International Summer School opera scenes, the world premier of The Bruce Cathedral Opera, and the RCS opera production of Mozart’s Idomeneo. Their interest expands beyond performing opera, as they have taken a strong interest in directing, as they assistant directed the RCS BMus Opera Scenes alongside preparing for their own scenes. After their graduation, Roisin travelled to Germany where they performed as Contessa in the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar’s 2024 production of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.

Roisin graduated in 2021 from the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, Australia, and maintains a professional career in Australia and the UK. While studying there, Roisin achieved the Faculty of Arts Executive Dean’s Certificate for Outstanding Academic Achievement 2021, the Rae Cocking Memorial Prize 2021 and the Lienau Prize 2020.

Opera scenes include Contessa from Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro, Dido from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Despina from Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Lady Saphir from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience, Chocholka from Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen,

Ilia from Mozart’s Idomeneo and covered the role of Vixen from Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen for the RCS Alexander Gibson Opera School scenes.

Roisin is gratefully funded by the EMR Travel Scholarship 2022 and the Athol Lykke Scholarship 2023 funds. Most recently, Roisin was thrilled to have been announced as Semi-Finalist in the Covent Garden Opera Competition 2024.
