ABOUT

Stefán Víkingur is an American Icelandic tenor. He is currently studying at the University of Arizona School of Music under Dr. Andrew Stuckey. Last year, Stefán performed in Belle Ile, France with the French opera festival “Lyrique En Mer” Under the direction of stage director Robert Chevara and conductor Phillip Walsh. He has performed a number of operas and opera scenes at the University of Arizona including Gianni Schicci (Marco), Dido And Aenaes (The Sorceress), and Carmen (Le Dancaïre) with stage director Cynthia Stokes and conductor Thomas Cockerel. In the spring of 2024, Stefán will perform a solo chamber opera “An Incident In Sutton Square.” This composition, a finalist piece from the Dominick Argento Chamber Opera Competition, was performed at the National Opera Association Conference in Tempe, Arizona. Next fall, Stefán plans to spend a semester at the Conservatorio Rossini in Pesaro Italy. In his time at the University of Arizona, Stefán has sung a variety of works selected from a diverse population of composers from all over the world, including Iceland. He currently teaches private voice and piano lessons and is the assistant artistic director of Desert Voices Community Chorus in Tucson.
